Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Year 2!
We are looking forward to another exciting term with your children. It has been really nice to see all of our children return to school with enthusiasm and smiling faces.
We are going to be learning about work connected to “Castle Tales” this term. Please take a look at our Mid Term Plan below to see all the other things that we will be learning about and how you can help your child at home.
Our PE days will be Tuesday. Please make sure your child has suitable shoes and kit for PE (red, t-shirt, plimsolls, black shorts for the indoors/summer, tracksuit bottoms for winter). It is still quite cold so please make sure children have tracksuit bottoms in school. Please make sure any jewellery is removed on PE days. Earrings which cannot be removed must be covered and hair tied back. Children will go home in their PE kit.
Due to the current situation with COVID19, there will be a change to how regularly reading books will be changed. However, please help your child to read by listening to them read at home every day. At this point in Year 2 it is important to be asking questions as your child is reading to help with their understanding. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to look at reading records. Reading books should be brought to school in a suitable school sized book bag. Children can also access ‘Bug Club’ at home.
Children will continue to receive homework on a Friday. It should be completed and returned by Monday. Spellings will be tested on the following Friday. LetterJoin is also available for children to practice their handwriting.
If you have any questions, please email us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please look out for information on the school website and Google Classroom.
We look forward many more adventures throughout the year,
The Year 2 team
