Welcome to Year 2!
We have been having lots of fun this term. We have delved deep into different texts, written to the Prime Minster about Climate Change and wrote our own non-fiction text. We also enjoyed a local walk to the Feltham War Memorial, a dance workshop and an amazing music visit from the Rock School.
Please click here to see the response from 10 Downing Street to the letters children sent the Prime Minister about Climate Change. Ophelia’s letter received a special commendation! And click here for the response from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
We’re looking forward to many more exciting events including a ‘hit the button’ maths competition, a poetry competition, book sales, making and selling our own Christmas ornaments and of course the Christmas show!
Here’s our winner from the poetry recital competition
The poem in question is ‘Gathering Leaves’ by Robert Frost
Please view our half term plan so you can look at the learning and activities we are doing in class.
Please help your child to read by listening to them read at home every day. It is important that you ask your child questions as they read to help with their understanding. The class teacher and teaching assistant will listen to your child read and their reading books will be changed regularly. Please write in and respond to comments in your child’s reading record. Children are also encouraged to access ‘Bug Club’ at home.
Children are given homework on a weekly basis, these tasks are linked to work from the school week. Please speak to your child’s class teacher for further support. Please hand this homework in on Monday.
Please ensure that your child’s uniform, water bottle and PE kit are clearly labelled.
Children need to have their PE kit in school. This should include a plain red t-shirt and navy/black shorts for indoor PE and a plain navy/black jumper and tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE. Children will also need black plimsolls.
Please check the school website regularly for important dates and information.
