Year 5

Dear parents / caregivers,

We wish you a very warm welcome back to the Summer Term. We are looking forward to a fresh start and excited share and learn about the new topics for this term.

The summary of the topics that Year 5 will be covering during the term will be on the school website. We have included the main learning intentions for each curriculum area. Please use this to support your child in their learning so that they are able to reach their full potential this year. Online learning will continue to be available for the children that are shielding, each day on Google Classroom. We have put up a timetable to help children to organise their day’s home learning.

Online Homework

Homework will be continues to be set online each week on Monday and it is to be completed by Friday. Homework is important as it enables the children to practise and reinforce work in class. So we would ask you to help us by ensuring homework is completed online on time.

Children will be issued with a fiction and non-fiction book from the school library, which they will be able to change regularly. Children are responsible for these books and should ensure that they are returned. It is important that your child reads for at least 20 minutes every day at home and write a short recording in reading books.

PE Kits

PE kit includes Black shorts, a red t-shirt, black plimsolls and a pair of trainers. Year 5 will have PE on Thursday morning. Please ensure that children come into school wearing their PE kits to school on this day, and also go home in their kits. Thank you

For your child to reach his/her full potential regular attendance is essential. Any holidays during the school year must be taken during school holidays.
