Safeguarding Statement

At Sparrow Farm Infant and Nursery School the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, Governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our children. We follow Safer Recruitment procedures and all staff have completed an Enhanced DBS clearance.

We listen to our children and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection and kept regularly updated with current Government legislation. Children in our school know that adults are here to keep them safe and that they can talk to them if they have concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report any concerns immediately to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about children are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move may be contrary to a child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead at our school is Mrs Cella (Headteacher). We have three Deputy Designated Leads, Miss Dollay (Deputy Headteacher), Mr Mockeridge (Assistant Headteacher) and Mrs Macrae (School Business Manager).

The Designated Person for Look After Children is Mrs Cella and our Pupil Premium Champion is Mrs Skelton (Class Teacher).

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our Safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed here.

If you are concerned about the safety of a child, you can email the school Safeguarding team; or contact Hounslow Children’s Social Care on 020 8583 6600 or email
